2007 Peacemaker of the Year Awards Dinner

Be certain to mark your calendars for the 21st annual Peacemaker Awards Dinner November 29, 2007 at the Double Tree Hotel at Midway and LBJ [get address and directions].  A self serve bar begins at 5:30 pm and dinner will be served at 7:00 pm. The Peacemaker Awards Dinner is the premier annual event of the peacemaking community in Dallas and you won’t want to miss this year’s celebration.

Elizabeth & Natalie VillafrancaElizabeth Villafranca (Pictured with her Daughter Natalie) – Elizabeth’s leadership to preserve the civil rights of immigrants in Farmers Branch has inspired us all.  Her talent for coalition building, grace, composure and peaceful spirit in the face of overwhelming vitriol have inspired the Dallas Peace Center to name her 2007 Peacemaker of the Year.

Dawson TunnellDawson Tunnell – Dawson has been the heart of peacemaking in Denton for over four decades, and has already been recognized by the Presbyterian Church for his efforts to promote Peace & Justice. His consistent dedication makes him the recipient of our Lifetime Achievement Award.

 

 

 

 

CAIR DFW

Council on American Islamic Relations – (CAIR-DFW) – For years CAIR-DFW has promoted understanding of Muslims through education and by creating dialogue in the community.  This year their leadership in bringing to the forefront the incarceration of immigrant children and vigilant advocacy for due process on behalf of the Holy Land Foundation make them our 2007 Peacemaking Organization of the Year.
