The Dallas Peace Center, the oldest peace and justice organization in North Texas, will hold its annual community strategic plan meeting Saturday, February 16, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. The meeting will take place at the new home of the Dallas Peace Center (DPC), 9120 Ferguson Rd., Dallas 75228, on the campus of First Community Church.
"The community strategic plan meeting is for all individuals who are willing to take constructive action so that our local, national, and global communities can live in peace," said DPC Executive Director Kelli Obazee. "The goal of the meeting is to develop community action strategies that upholds dignity, human and civil rights for all. We believe that we must respond with nonviolence, wisdom, and courage to address atrocities at home and abroad," she added.
The event is free and open to the public. The DPC has identified Immigration, the National Defense Authorization Act, Gun Control, and Medicaid Expansion as areas of advocacy focus at the state and national level. Internationally, the DPC focuses on Middle East Peace and the elimination of Nuclear Weapons and Technology. Local Educational Programs for all ages are also on the agenda.
