Amazon's description of the book by Ron Hall, Denver Moore and Lynn Vincent:

"Meet Denver, a man raised under plantation-style slavery in Louisiana in the 1960s; a man who escaped, hopping a train to wander, homeless, for eighteen years on the streets of Dallas, Texas. No longer a slave, Denver's life was still hopeless-until God moved. First came a godly woman who prayed, listened, and obeyed. And then came her husband, Ron, an international arts dealer at home in a world of Armani-suited millionaires. And then they all came together.

"But slavery takes many forms. Deborah discovers that she has cancer. In the face of possible death, she charges her husband to rescue Denver. Who will be saved, and who will be lost? What is the future for these unlikely three? What is God doing?

Over the past couple of weeks, I am sure the tragic news of
Lawrence "Larry" King's death has resonated within your hearts. A 15 year
old youth who was gunned down because of his sexual orientation, Larry's
life--and, more importantly, the nature of his death--deserves recognition.
While many efforts have been carried out around the country to remember the
circumstances surrounding Larry's death, none have yet to be demonstrated
here in Dallas. Ergo, it is with great honor that I make each of you aware
of a community vigil we are organizing here in Dallas on Sunday, March 9,
2008. The vigil will be held at Cathedral of Hope at 7pm and will include a
memorial walk towards the crossroads at Cedar Springs and Oak Lawn. Of
course, this event is open to the public.

It is our intention to not only observe this tragedy, but it
is also our hope to help raise awareness for the bullying and harassment
LGBT persons endure not only in the public school setting but in the
community at large as well. Together, we hope to facilitate change.

China Blue is a powerful and poignant journey into the harsh world of sweatshop workers. Shot clandestinely, this is a deep-access account of what both China and the international retailers don't want us to see: how the clothes we buy are actually made.

Following a pair of denim jeans from birth to sale, China Blue links the power of the U.S. consumer market to the daily lives of a Chinese factory owner and two teenaged female factory workers. Filmed both in the factory and in the workers' faraway village, this documentary provides a rare, human glimpse at China's rapid transformation into a free market society.

Iraq lies in ruins and casualties of war continue to mount. More than a million Iraqis are dead and U.S deaths are approaching 4,000. 4 million Iraqis have been rendered homeless or have left the country for safety in neighboring countries like Jordan and Syria. The cost of the war to U.S taxpayers may surpass $3 trillion according to Nobel laureate economist James Stiglitz.

Just a few months ago it was widely believed that the Iraq war would be the central issue in the 2008 election. It is shocking how swiftly the defining issue of our times has been set aside by our leaders in Washington and an obsequious media. The 5th anniversary of the invasion of Iraq, March 19, presents an opportunity to put the Iraq war back on the table for discussion and debate.

When Army journalist Marshall Thompson came home from a tour of duty in Iraq, two things were clear – the war is wrong and he needed to do something to stop it.  Marshall sets off on foot to walk the entire 500 mile length of his conservative home state of Utah in the hopes of getting people talking about war and peace. Featuring Martin Sheen, Cindy Sheehan, and Ron Kovic, “A Soldier’s Peace” follows his inspirational 27-day journey for peace.

This April will mark five years since the inception of the Crawford Texas Peace House. We officially opened our doors on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2003. However, Easter falls on March 23, this year, and many of our friends will be in town, so we will take that occasion to give thanks to the Creator, for our many volunteers and for the opportunity to be a witness for peace and justice in Crawford, Texas.

This week also marks the 5th Anniversary of the Iraq War. Let us use this occasion for remembrance, remorse, repentance.

Please join us as we commemorate the journey, and ask for peace, wisdom and blessings for the future of our community and our world.
