 1.    Welcome, Intros, and Centering
        a.  Present: Members: Reza Badiee, Sidney Burkins Jr., Delia Castillo, Mehry Cornett, Elaine Emmert, Roger Kallenberg, Bill Matthews, Michael Millican, Danna Pyke, Valley Reed, Asma Salam, Staff: Lon Burnam, Daniel Williams. Absent: Stephen Brown (p), Len Ellis (p), Rob Evans, Zakee Iddeen (p), Bobbie Nehmann

        c. Mehry asked about the role of the religious in political demonstrations
2.  Minutes of September Board Meeting
        a. Reviewed, approved
3.    September Treasurer’s Report – Reza Badiee
        a.  Good news – September $4,000 income over expenditures
        b.  Hopeful signs – Contributions up in September
                   i. Savings due to loss of Development Director
                   ii.  $5,000 received from one donor
        c.  October expenses depend on PAD receipts
        d.  Elaine moved acceptance, Roger seconded
        e.  Draft of Auditor’s Report received, good result
                    i.  Next year will have 2005 included, therefore three years clean
4. Committee Reports
        a.  Finance & Audit Committee Report (Reza)
        b.  Office Search Committee – Roger Kallenberg
                    i. Promising location on Center Street, negotiating price
        c.  2008 Budget Committee – Michael Millican – Draft of Proposed Budget distributed
                    i. Various items discussed; such as adjustments to various items, fund-raising, staff concerns
5. Team Reports (Consent Agenda )
        a. Communications – Report filed with minutes, note request that teams develop vision for participating in DPC communications
        b. Dismantling Racism – report filed with minutes
        c.  Fundraising – Awards Dinner – planning advancing, several program elements proposed, vendor tables to reflect diversity – potential of 50 tables of 10, four have been “bought”
                    i. Mailing party Saturday, Oct 20, 3,000 pieces
                    ii. Phone follow-up, Saturday, Oct 27
                    iii.  Urge personal invitations to 30 or more to each Board member
        d. Infrastructure and Long Term Planning – no report
6. Board Development / Nominations Committee Nov 5 – report filed – assignments, recommendations have been received
7. Staff Development – no report
8. Peace Education  -- continuing course in Nonviolence Education, Sunday afternoons, led by J. Kendel Johnson
9.  Swords into Plowshares – report filed – Valley Reed
        a. Successful Walk the Talk, Direct Action Retreat – well-attended, positive feedback, outreach into community.
        b. Work with fundraising committee to define Grant opportunities
        c.  Counter recruitment workshops proposed, working on college campuses with Iraq Veterans Against the War
        d.  Other schools

10.  Delia reported speaking to AAUW about DPC, with positive responses
