Watch our Tent of Hope become a live-art collaboration. A group of Dallas artists will use their passions and talents to create a priceless work of art. You are invited to watch the inspiration become action through artistic expression at Space in Deep Ellum. Hope and solidarity are free, and so is this event - come enjoy live music, food and beverages as we support Darfur with the talent of Dallas artists. The finished tent will premier at the Water for Darfur gala at the Cameron Gallery on September 20. From November 7-9, this Tent of Hope will join with thousands from across the country at the national ceremony on the Mall in Washington D.C. It will represent the solidarity, compassion and hope of the Dallas community.

Rally to support indictment of Sudan's president

Dallas, TX - The Darfur Renaissance Association in the US - DFW Chapter and other Darfur activist organizations across the metropolitan area will rally to show strong support for the recent indictment by the International Criminal Court (ICC) of Omar Bashir, Sudan’s president, for war crimes he masterminded in Darfur where an estimated 200,000 people have died in the past five years.

Darfur Activists will rally and then hold a press conference to provide a “beyond the headlines” discussion about the impact of the ICC’S decision on peace-making prospects for Darfur. The Darfur Renaissance Association in the US - DFW Chapter, comprised of Darfur refugees, emphasizes that the pursuit of justice for the victims of crimes is a critical element in ending the genocidal war in Darfur. It sends a firm message to the government of Sudan that violence waged against innocent people in Darfur will not be tolerated and that those responsible will be held accountable.

Come see "Sand and Sorrow," a powerful film about Darfur! Speakers will discuss the film and al-Bashir's recent indictment; there will be a question forum at the end. Participate in our petition and letter-writing campaign to our representatives, and write messages that will be sent to refugees in Darfur! The movie night itself will also be filmed and sent to Darfur. Refreshments will be provided. Doors open at 6:30 for letter-writing!

Shocking Video from Darfur

We need a miracle to safe Darfur. Let's find a way to be that miracle. In the video the children are subjected to torture called the sand bath. They are beaten(you can hear their screams ) and forced to crawl and lie on their cheeks on 102 F hot and boiling sand . A child was begging for water and he was laughed at and mocked and ordered to put his cheek back on the sand.

Hundreds of Darfur rebels near Sudan's capital, clashing with security forces

CRAWFORD, Texas - The Bush administration said Saturday it was "very concerned" about the outbreak of violence in Sudan between Darfur rebels and government troops and urged both sides to exercise restraint.

"We are very concerned about the situation," White House spokesman Gordon Johndroe said in Texas where President Bush was attending his daughter's wedding.

"We would urge that both sides cease hostilities, whether it is the rebel group or any response from the government. We want to see a calm and order restored."

The story of the little blue car

This is the true story of the little blue car. I was visiting my four-year old grandson, Oscar, and was telling him the story of a little girl in an IDP (Internally Displaced Persons Camp) in Darfur, Sudan. I told him that she was so excited because she had a toy. One toy. That’s all—one toy. The toy? It was a small piece of string. She was thrilled to have it. He looked at me in utter disbelief.

“But, Nana, that’s not fair,” he said. He jumped up from the dinner table, ran over to his toy box, dug through it, and brought back the little blue car. He handed it to me and asked me to give it to someone when I went to Darfur. I promised him I would.

When I gave the little blue car to the boy in Darfur, he could not believe it was for him and tried to give it back. I placed it once more in his small hand, wrapped his fingers around the little blue car, squeezed his hand, and walked away so he would know it was his to keep. Our driver took the photograph. Oscar is happy to know that his little blue car was delievered to a child in Darfur.

One example of one little boy making a very big difference in another little boy’s life half way around the world. One person can make a difference in Darfur.
