Numerology is one of the fundamental Traditional Sciences, and many other disciplines are based on it. The principles of numerology can be found embedded within many astrological concepts, especially with respect to relationships. The meanings of the aspects between signs are all based on numerology. It is from these aspects that we determine what signs are compatible and what signs are not.
Below are the possible relationships between signs and their connection to the meanings of numbers.
One – Conjunction
The Number 1 is the number of Unity. It refers to the initial act of Creation. In Sacred Geometry, one is the point. In relationship astrology, the Number 1 refers to the conjunction. This is when two people are of the same sign. For example, both people may be Aries or Taurus. In a relationship between two people of the same sign, they understand each other, but they lack balance. They are also too much alike. Some signs get along better with each other than others do.
The signs that get along well with others of the same sign are: Taurus, Gemini, Libra, Sagittarius, and Pisces.
The signs that do not get along with others of the same sign are: Aries, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, and Aquarius.
Two – Opposition
The Number 2 is a number of Duality and Polarity. It is the beginning of existence. In Sacred Geometry, it is the line. In relationship astrology, the Number 2 is the opposition. Signs that are opposite each other often fight, but they also balance one another. Opposite signs are considered the natural partners for each other. The opposite sign pairs are below:
- Aries and Libra
- Taurus and Scorpio
- Gemini and Sagittarius
- Cancer and Capricorn
- Leo and Aquarius
- Virgo and Pisces
Three – Trine
The number 3 is a lucky and magical number. It is the number of Divinity. In Sacred Geometry, it is the plane. In relationship astrology, the number 3 is the trine. The trine is the most harmonious aspect there is between signs. Signs that are trine each other are of the same element. As a set, they are called triplicities. Below are the triplicities by element:
- Fire – Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius
- Earth – Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn
- Air – Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius
- Water – Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces
Four – Square
The Number 4 is the number of the material world. In Sacred Geometry, it takes 4 points to make the simplest three-dimensional figure, which is the tetrahedron, and thus, it is the first number that is able to form a solid. While there are many pleasures in the material world, it can also be a place of struggle and hardship. For this reason, 4 is considered a more difficult number.
In relationship astrology, the number 4 is the square. The square is the aspect of tension and friction. Signs that are square each other tend to annoy each other. Squares are formed by the opposite sign pairs.
- Aries and Libra are square Cancer and Capricorn.
- Taurus and Scorpio are square Leo and Aquarius.
- Gemini and Sagittarius are square Virgo and Pisces.
Six – Sextile
The last major aspect that is found in relationship astrology is the sextile, which is based on the Number 6. One of the ways to form 6 is to multiply 2 x 3. 3 is the number of Divinity, and 2 is the number of Duality. The number 6 is the number of balance and harmony. It is a fortuitous number, but because it contains the Number 2, it also incorporates some tension. The sextile is a pleasant aspect between signs, but it is not as harmonious as the trine. Signs that are sextile are friendly to each other. Below is a list of each sign with the signs that are sextile to it.
- Aries – Aquarius and Gemini
- Taurus – Pisces and Cancer
- Gemini – Aries and Leo
- Cancer – Taurus and Virgo
- Leo – Gemini and Libra
- Virgo – Cancer and Scorpio
